Mala-Making Necklace Workshop
March 18 @ 10:00 am MDT - 4:00 pm MDT
$100.00
Guided by Mala Maker and Herbalist, Kendra of Turtle Herbals
Malas are the oldest form of prayer beads and were traditionally used as a counting tool in meditation.
Learn the history of the mala, its spiritual influence in meditation and the symbolism contained in each aspect of the mala. Gain insight on the chakra system and get a brief overview of some common gemstones and their spiritual properties. Support your spiritual practice by creating your own intentional mala in this 5-hour workshop.
First, we will begin with a guided meditation to help you find your intention or “sankalpa” that you wish to infuse into your own mala or as an intentional gift for a loved one. Next, your guide Kendra will support you in making your own mala step-by-step.
Schedule:
10am-12: Guided meditation, Lessons on the mala and chakras, Pick your Beads
12-12:30: Lunch Break
12:30-3: Make your mala necklace. Upon completion feel free to leave, or wait to join us…
3-3:30: Closing ceremony with Japa meditation style
Your $100 investment includes our base mala making kit; choose from over fifty different gemstone beads and styles and your choice of a unique protective bag to store your mala in when it’s not in use. During the workshop you have the opportunity to upgrade your mala kit to include even more semi precious gemstone bead options for an extra $25-$50.
This workshop includes a 30-minute lunch break so be sure to bring lunch and/or snacks. Or choose from many local Ridgway restaurants close by. Loose leaf tea and water will be provided.
